What did each plant capture?
Explore energy value, dispatch timing and charging costs. Compare peers by technology and region.
Value and timing
Each marker is an eligible asset. Higher timing premium means generation captured a higher price than the regional average. Marker size represents capacity.
Cost is a user assumption applied to generated MWh. Scenario contribution also deducts observed import costs, and excludes start costs, fixed costs, FCAS and contracts.

Regional supply stack
Offers capped at maximum availability, ordered by connection-point price.
This is an offer curve. Ramps, losses, transmission, FCAS and rebids determine actual dispatch. Demand is regional context, not a clearing-price intersection.

Connect it to the trade
Use asset concentration to understand which units underpin a regional physical view.
Check whether thermal returns or outages persist across the delivery hours relevant to the trade.
Look for thin low-price supply, dependence on peakers and the timing of battery charging.
Pair the asset picture with interconnector limits and the same forecast run’s regional conditions.
A day-ahead operating profile adds context. A quarterly futures valuation also needs duration, repeatability, weather and risk-premium assumptions.

Zero output can reflect economics, dispatch constraints or an outage. Forced-outage reliability requires event classification and independently reported availability; this chart does not assign an outage cause.

Survey reconciliation gaps
Two complementary sources of asset knowledge
Published bid stacks show final historical ten-band ENERGY offers released the next day. They reveal price placement and volume, but cannot show today’s confidential rebids.
Reconstructed generation works backwards from public predispatch constraint totals. It can recover some unit outputs without knowing their bids. The commercial pdView DAEG product describes generation profiles derived from AEMO data; its proprietary implementation is not publicly disclosed.
The maths, in one example
0.8A + 0.3B = 360 MW
A = 300 MW · B = 400 MW
One total admits many asset combinations. A second independent equation separates the units. Across the NEM, public constraint coefficients, published LHS results and known interconnector flows create a much larger system: Ax = b.
We match the exact constraint version and forecast run, subtract known flow contributions, then test the matrix’s null space. A minimum-norm answer is never enough: the asset must be uniquely identifiable and numerically stable. Physical sign bounds can sometimes narrow otherwise unresolved values; that extension is tested separately.
What a number does—and does not—mean
A recovered MW value describes the output inside that AEMO forecast run. Forecast errors, later rebids, outages and weather changes still affect realised dispatch. The numerical error bound measures sensitivity to equation precision; it is not a forecast probability interval.
Shared connection points are not divided arbitrarily between units. Missing versions, unsupported intervention cases and unresolved variables remain blank. The research pilot excludes FCAS-coupled equations and unqualified battery/load mappings.
The independent validation target is next-day PREDISPATCH UNIT_SOLUTION.TOTALCLEARED, joined by run, DUID and interval. SCADA measures a different thing: what subsequently happened.

Base Swap Decomposition Tenor grid + table view for implied average bucket prices
Methodology How the decomposition is calculated
Deal shapes and cap research: Deal comparison supports TOD, ASX and custom delivery windows. Market Shape uses five TOD blocks. Cap Analysis groups the same dispatch data into three research buckets (Overnight, Mid-Day and Super Peak) to allocate $300/MWh cap value. These research allocations do not establish prices for independently tradable bucket caps.
Cap Value Allocation: Historical spot prices above $300/MWh are classified into three time buckets. The percentage of total cap payouts in each bucket determines how the forward cap settlement price is allocated. Payouts are winsorised at the 95th percentile to prevent single extreme events from dominating.
Base Swap Decomposition: The historical average spot price ratio between buckets is used to decompose the base forward into implied per-bucket prices, constrained to hour-weight back to the base settlement.
Diagnostics: Each decomposition tracks the number of cap events, data coverage, and whether the lookback is seasonally matched for internal review.
